The non-surgical solution to treat a double chin and to improve your profile!

What is Kybella?

Until now the most effective way to remove excess chin fat was through Liposuction. While Liposuction is still a good option, it is a surgical procedure that can be costly and painful. Kybella® is a non-surgical, injectable alternative that permanently reduces mild to moderate amounts of fat under the chin and jawline.

The active ingredient in Kybella® is deoxycholic acid, which is found naturally in the body and it assists in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Deoxycholic acid has a preference for fat, so it will permanently breakdown fat cells which are then naturally eliminated by the body.

Who is the ideal candidate for Kybella?

Kybella is best for people who want to avoid surgery but are who are concerned with moderate to severe fat storage under the chin & jawline. During your complimentary consultation, your medical provider will go over your health history with you to help determine if you are a candidate to receive Kybella which is a prescription medication.

What to expect during a Kybella treatment?

At SkinMedix, Kybella© is administered by one of our specially trained Nurse Practioners. First, they will numb the treatment area for 20 minutes. During the treatment, you will receive a number of small injections under your chin and jawline. The overall injection process takes no longer than 15-20 minutes. What to expect after a Kybella treatment? What are the possible side effects? The temporary side effects of Kybella include; swelling, fullness, bruising, tenderness and numbness are to be expected and will be worse for the first 2 weeks as the product works to break down the excess fat stored under the chin. By weeks 3 and 4, the symptoms will start to improve and you will notice the treated area shrinking. By weeks 4 – 6, patients will see a noticeable reduction in the overall fullness of their chin and jawline and the skin will be tighter. * Sometimes serious side effects can occur, including nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness (experienced by 4 out of 100 people in clinical studies) and trouble swallowing (experienced in 2 out of 100 people in clinical studies). Side effects are usually temporary and often resolve on their own. How many Kybella treatments are needed?

Our Kybella® specialists will help determine how many treatments are needed based on each patient’s case. At SkinMedix we recommend not undertreating the area as we see the best results when the chin area is properly dosed, (usually 2 to 4 vials of Kybella, especially on the 1st visit). Each treatment is done every 30 – 45 days and clinical studies show 59% of patients received 2 to 4 treatments.
