Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Are you suffering from menopause, low testosterone or loss of libido?
Women between ages 20 – 40 lose 50% of their testosterone and men over age 35 lose up to 3% of their testosterone per year. Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy is a safe and effective way to quickly treat this problem for most people. The BioTE® method of hormone pellet therapy for men and women can bring you back to optimum hormone levels and improve well-being!
What is Pellet Therapy?
Pellet therapy uses hormones derived from natural plant sources to replicate the body’s normal hormonal levels. Data supports that testosterone implants effectively treat symptoms in both men and women. Pellets, placed under the skin, consistently release small doses of hormones providing optimal therapy without adverse effects.
Why Pellets?
Typical oral and transdermal forms of therapy produce “roller coaster” hormone levels, resulting in mood and energy fluctuations for the patient. The BioTE® Hormone Pellet Therapy is the only method of hormone therapy that provides sustained hormone levels throughout the day, for 3-4 months in women and 4-5 months in men, without any “roller coaster” effects found with other hormone therapies.
The hormones used in Pellet therapy are completely natural and identical to our own hormones, so they cannot be patented. Because of this, they have been ignored by the major pharmaceutical firms.
Some of the benefits experienced with pellet therapy include:
- Increases testosterone in men & women
- Relieves symptoms of menopause
- Enhances libido & sexual satisfaction
- Increases mental clarity, focus & memory
- Improves energy, vitality & sleeplessness
- Depression relief, overall feeling of well-being
- Reduces body fat & builds lean muscle
- Protects bones, brain, heart, joints & breasts
Pellet Therapy for Women:
In studies, pellet therapy has been shown to be extremely effective for relief of menopausal symptoms, including; increasing bone density, improving sleep patterns and sex drive & libido, improving vaginal dryness and incontinence, relief from night sweats and hot flashes. Pellet implants have also been used to treat migraine and menstrual headaches.
The longer women go without the protection of estrogen or without hormone replacement therapy, the greater risk of developing serious health problems including:
- Osteoporosis
- Heart Disease
- Diabetes
- Many Cancers
- Impaired Vision
- Alzheimer’s Disease
Pellet Therapy for Men:
Testosterone levels begin to decline in men beginning in their early 30’s. Symptoms of testosterone deficiency in men include fatigue, lack of mental acuity, loss of libido, and difficulty achieving, or sustaining an erection. It is never too late to benefit from hormone therapy.
What if my primary care physician or my gynecologist says that there is ‘no data’ to support the use of pellet implants?
There is data to support the ‘long term’ safety of hormones delivered by pellet implants. Bio-identical hormone pellet therapy is being used safely in 5 continents and has been researched and studied for over 70 years. It’s about a patient making an informed choice. After pellets are inserted, patients may notice that they have more energy, sleep better and feel happier.
Men and women both benefit from bio-identical testosterone replacement therapy. Other delivery methods (i.e. creams, pills, patches and injections) cannot provide a steady delivery of hormones 24/7. Pellets provide a constant supply of hormone that your body recognizes as its own, which significantly reduces the chance of side effects.
Will insurance cover the procedure?
Most insurance companies will cover the cost of the office visit, the blood panels, and in some cases, the pellets. Patients should contact their insurance companies to see if their costs will be reimbursed. It is the patients responsibility to submit all claims to his or her insurance company. If your insurance does not cover the blood panels, or if you do not have insurance, we have pre-negotiated rates through Quest Diagnostics and can assist you with obtaining your blood panels. We require full payment for our services up front.
Can a patient be allergic to the implants?
A patient can develop a local zone of redness (3-8 cm) and itching at the site of the testosterone implant but it is rare and can be treated.
How do I begin?
We start by accurately identifying the hormone levels in your blood via blood tests in order to prescribe the optimal dose of hormones for your unique body chemistry. Hormone levels must be drawn and evaluated before therapy can begin.
